Description
Remote is seeking a Data Centre Specialist to join the team in ASD. The Data Centre Specialist will assist with the acquisition and sustainment of infrastructure and data centre activities, including installation, removal, testing, and configuration management.
Key responsibilities include supporting ASD’s Enterprise Data Centres, maintaining and upgrading systems, troubleshooting hardware installations, and resolving IT infrastructure issues. The role also involves upgrading software and firmware, and contributing to continuous improvement processes.
Role Information
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide support in ASD’s Enterprise Data Centres across multiple environments
Maintain and sustain, build, test, upgrade and document systems in Defence Enterprise Data Centre
Plan, Install, troubleshoot and oversee multi-vendor installations of hardware, and contribute to decommissioning old hardware
Maintain and provision enterprise data centre infrastructure. Investigate, analyse and assist with the resolution of issues with facilities, data hall space, power and cooling where required, identify and rectify operational problems across IT infrastructure
Upgrade software and firmware of data centre infrastructure, intelligent racks, PDUs, access control systems and DCIM software
Assist in the continuous improvement process by developing and enhancing procedures and standards and comply with internal administrative and Standard Operating Procedures
Technical skills:
Essential:
Proven experience in Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM) configuration systems, testing & installations
Experience in the management of data hall hardware, network devices, power distribution units & associated CRAC or CRAH cooling systems
Proven experience in Data Centre design – knowledge in AC, DC power systems and cooling
Desirable:
Certification and/or industry qualifications in Data Centre Operations
Proven experience with network protocols & technologies
Essential criteria:
Certification and/or industry qualifications in Data Centre Operations
Proven experience in Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM) configuration systems, testing and installations. Experience in the management of data hall hardware, network devices, power distribution units and associated CRAC or CRAH cooling systems.
Proven experience in Data Centre design – knowledge in AC, DC power systems and cooling.
Plan, Install, troubleshoot and oversee multi-vendor installations of hardware, and contribute to decommissioning old hardware to quality standards.
Provide support in Defence Enterprise Data Centres across multiple environments for highly classified networks.
Maintain and provision enterprise data centre infrastructure. Investigate, analyse and assist with the resolution of issues with facilities, data hall space, power and cooling where required, identify and rectify operational problems across IT infrastructure, and investigate and diagnose networks problems in a multi-vendor environment.
Desirable criteria:
Maintain and sustain, build, test, upgrade and document systems in Defence Enterprise Data Centre.
Upgrade software and firmware of data centre infrastructure, intelligent racks, PDUs, access control systems and DCIM software.
Work as part of a team to manage incidents, problems, continuous services improvement and workflows to meet deadlines.
Engage and liaise with assigned project representatives and other support teams regarding data centre deliverables.
